The IUTAM Symposium "From Mechanical to Biological Systems - an Integrated Approach" will be held June 5-10, 2012, at the Udmurt State University, Izhevsk, Russia.
The main goal of the symposium is to promote an integrated approach to the understanding of the dynamical structures of mechanical artefacts on the one hand and living bodies on the other hand. Tops and mechanical toys, legged robots, artificial animals and a large variety of biological motion systems represent typical examples. The dynamical behaviour of these seemingly different objects has nevertheless much in common thus requiring a new sight and more interdisciplinary concepts...
